Swift rescue by lifeguards saves 5 tourists from drowning in Puri sea beach

In a dramatic rescue operation, five tourists got a second lease of life after they were saved from drowning in the sea at Puri. The incident unfolded on Sunday when three tourists found themselves struggling in the water, as large waves crashed against the shore. The sudden increase in sea waves caught the tourists off guard, leading them to fall into the sea.

Fortunately, the life guard team was quick to respond. Their timely intervention and swift action ensured that all five tourists were pulled out of the water safely, avoiding any tragic outcomes.

In a similar incident reported on 23th December 2025, four tourists from West Bengal were rescued from drowning by lifeguards while bathing in the sea at Puri beach, averting a potentially fatal incident. The incident occurred at Sector No. 9 beach near Chaitanya Chhak, where the tourists had entered the water together.

According to reports, the tourists were bathing in the sea when they were suddenly swept into deeper waters and began struggling to stay afloat. Other visitors noticed the situation and immediately alerted the lifeguards stationed nearby.

Acting swiftly, the lifeguards rushed into the sea and successfully rescued all four tourists, bringing them safely back to shore. It is pertinent to mention that despite the presence of lifeguards at major beach locations, such incidents continue to occur, largely due to tourists ignoring safety advisories. 

Lifeguards regularly caution visitors against venturing into deeper waters and warn them about strong currents and rip current zones.

The quick-thinking and expertise of the life guard team prevented a potentially disastrous situation. Their heroic efforts are a reminder of the importance of safety measures, especially when the sea conditions are unpredictable.
