The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will commence across Odisha from April 1, the State Chief Electoral Officer R. Santhagopalan informed on Saturday.

Addressing the media, the CEO said that preparatory activities, including mapping, are currently underway in the state to ensure smooth implementation of the revision process. The exercise aims to update and streamline the electoral rolls ahead of upcoming electoral processes.

Citizens Urged To Verify Details

Santhagopalan urged citizens to verify the details mentioned in the 2002 SIR list and report any discrepancies to the concerned authorities.

“People are requested to check and confirm their details in the 2002 SIR records,” he said.

Highlighting the exercise's objective, he stated that the primary goal is to ensure a clean, error-free electoral roll. The revision process is expected to help remove duplications, correct inaccuracies, and include eligible voters who may have been left out.

Appeal To Voters

The Election Department has appealed to voters to actively participate in the verification process to maintain transparency and accuracy in the electoral database.

In an official communication dated February 19, 2026, the Commission asked the Chief Electoral Officers of several states and Union Territories, including Odisha, to expedite groundwork for the revision process.

The Special Intensive Revision aims to update electoral rolls by adding eligible new voters, removing ineligible entries, and correcting discrepancies to ensure accuracy ahead of upcoming electoral processes.
