A private transport office near Block Chhak in Koida in Odisha's Sundargarh, was robbed at gunpoint around midnight on Wednesday, with miscreants escaping with more than Rs 3 lakh.

According to reports, a group of 7–8 masked individuals entered the office and held the staff at gunpoint before taking the cash.

The robbers reportedly overpowered the four employees present by threatening them with firearms and sharp weapons. They then broke open a table drawer and took the money kept inside.

The group also allegedly damaged computers and other equipment in the office. Two teams, including officers from Koida police station, reached the spot and launched an investigation.

Employee Recounts Horror

One of the employees said the assailants entered immediately after a driver returned to the office, leaving the staff with no chance to react. He said, “They threatened us with weapons and told us to hand over our phones and whatever cash was available. They searched for the computer hard drives, took them out and destroyed the equipment before fleeing with the money.”

He added that all the robbers had covered their faces. “Some were armed with guns while the others carried knives. One person was holding a bag, and another stood guard outside the gate. They took nearly Rs 3 lakh. It appeared to be a planned act,” he stated.

The miscreants reportedly spoke in both Odia and Hindi. Police are examining the CCTV footage and continuing their investigation into the robbery, sources said.
