Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as ‘the world’s most popular leader’ and an inspiration, while welcoming him to Jharsuguda on behalf of 4.5 crore people of the state.
Calling it a moment of joy for Odisha, Majhi invoked Lord Jagannath and said it was a matter of destiny that the event was being held in Jharsuguda. He recalled that Modi had laid the foundation stone of the Veer Surendra Sai Airport eight years ago.
“Today, this airport is giving momentum to the development of western Odisha,” he noted.
Majhi also underlined Modi’s role in shaping India’s security posture. “After the massacre in Pahalgam, India’s response to terrorists in Pakistan has altered the country’s strategic doctrine,” he said.
Highlighting welfare and development schemes, the Chief Minister reminded the gathering that the Prime Minister had launched the Subhadra Yojana during his birthday visit last year. “Today, more than one crore women receive Rs 10,000 annually under this scheme,” he said.
He also recalled that how PM Modi celebrated his birthday last year by relishing kheer from a tribal mother in Odisha before launching the Subhadra Yojana.
He also praised the green initiative ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’. Terming it as a revolution, CM Majhi said, “What began as a symbolic gesture has now become a movement. Against a target of 75 lakh saplings, people in Odisha planted 1.5 crore under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0 showing immense love and respect for the beloved PM,” Majhi said.
Concluding his address, the Chief Minister said every visit by the Prime Minister had brought new gifts of development for Odisha. “Odisha is moving fast under your guidance. We are hopeful this visit too will bring fresh opportunities for our people,” he added.
“Odisha is achieving great heights in terms of progress under the Prime Minister’s leadership. During the Utkarsh Odisha conclave, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged investors to invest in Odisha. This has opened new doors for industrial development. In the last 11 years, India has progressed in all sectors under PM’s leadership,” CM Mohan Majhi added.
