The accused, Sitanshu Sekhar Sahu, a resident of Bhadrak, works as a food delivery agent in Bengaluru. Behind this seemingly ordinary profession, however, lies an extraordinary tale of manipulation, one that locals describe as ‘stranger than fiction’.

According to allegations, Sitanshu’s obsession with marrying for money led him to wed at least five women within just a few years. Two of his wives have now come forward, filing formal complaints against him and exposing his elaborate scheme.

Residents of his village jokingly remark that ‘his brain works faster than a computer processor’, baffled by how he managed to trap five women into marriage in such a short span.

Records reveal that his first marriage took place on June 22, 2022. But like clockwork, Sitanshu allegedly married a new woman each year, collecting hefty dowries from unsuspecting families.

According to complaints, Sitanshu would act lovingly for a short period before revealing his true nature, turning abusive, demanding money, and attempting to seize property. He would then abandon his wife and move on to his next target. Allegations also suggest that his parents and siblings were complicit, aiding his schemes.

“His parents and sisters are also involved. They tortured me, and he even tried to kill me multiple times. He forced me to serve wine, threatened to leak my private photos, and kept demanding Rs 10,000–₹15,000,” said his first wife, adding that Sitanshu currently works with Swiggy in Bengaluru.

Despite the gravity of the accusations, locals allege that no significant action has been taken by the rural police. With their pleas ignored, both wives have now approached the Bhadrak SP, seeking justice against what they call a well-planned marriage racket.
