One dead, two critical in ambulance-SUV crash in Ganjam Photograph: (OTV)
One person was killed and two others were critically injured after an SUV and a private ambulance collided head-on on the Digapahandi–Dengaushta main road near Kapamandi in Ganjam district in the early hours of Tuesday.
The accident reportedly occurred around 3 am, when a Bolero vehicle reportedly collided with a private ambulance coming from Gajapati Patra. The deceased has been identified as Lalita Nayak, a resident of Kashipur in Rayagada district.
According to reports, Lalita was returning home from Cuttack Medical along with her sister and nephew after receiving treatment. Midway through the journey, their Bolero met with the fatal collision. Lalita succumbed to her injuries on the spot, while her sister and nephew sustained serious injuries.
Injured rushed to Digapahandi Hospital
The injured were immediately rushed to Digapahandi Hospital, where doctors stated their condition to be critical. They were later referred to Berhampur for advanced medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Digapahandi police reached the accident site soon after the incident and launched an investigation. The body was recovered and sent for post-mortem examination.

Police are also examining CCTV footage from the area to ascertain the sequence of events that led to the accident. Further details are awaited pending the post-mortem report.
