Odisha Vigilance raids Malkangiri block JE’s premises over disproportionate assets

Odisha Vigilance on Friday conducted simultaneous raids at multiple locations linked to a junior engineer (JE) in Malkangiri district in connection with allegations of amassing disproportionate assets. The JE has been identified as Nihar Ranjan Sarkar.

Vigilance sources said the searches were carried out following inputs suggesting that the assets allegedly owned by Sarkar were disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Acting on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore, multiple Vigilance teams launched coordinated raids at four locations in Malkangiri and Nabarangpur districts. The operation is being led by four DSPs, seven Inspectors, and other supporting staff, sources said.

The locations where searches are underway include a three-storey residential building at Jayanagar in Malkangiri town, Sarkar’s paternal house at MPV-10 under Kalimela police limits, the house of a relative at Raighar in Nabarangpur district, and his office chamber at the office of the Malkangiri Block Development Officer (BDO).

Vigilance DSP Sadananda Pani stated that the details and valuation of the properties detected during the searches would be disclosed upon completion of the investigation. The raid operation is currently in progress.
