Odisha govt seeks central aid for Science City in Bhubaneswar; check key updates

The State Science and Technology Minister, Krushna Chandra Patra, on Wednesday met Union Minister for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, in New Delhi and sought central aid for several initiatives, including a Science City in Bhubaneswar.

During the meeting, the Odisha Minister reportedly pitched to set up a world-class Science City in Bhubaneswar for which 100 acre of land has already been identified.

The proposed project is envisioned as an interactive science hub with advanced exhibits and immersive learning facilities designed to promote scientific temper and inspire young minds, reported The New Indian Express.

According to TNIE, Patra thanked the Union minister for support in transforming Odisha into a major scientific and industrial hub and Singh assured full support stating that the progress of Odisha in science and technology would contribute to the broader vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’.

Patra Visited Science City In Patna

Recently, Patra visited the Science City in Patna, where he interacted with officials and studied its infrastructure and design. Following the visit, Patra held detailed discussions with Bihar’s authorities. 

During his visit, he assured that a delegation of officials from Bihar would visit Odisha to share their expertise and provide technical guidance for the project.

“A Science City will be set up in Bhubaneswar. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has already granted 100 acres of land to us. I went to check the Science City project in progress at Patna. The work there is almost complete. The work that has been done there is very good. Hence, I held discussions with the concerned officials. I have also called for a meeting here, where we will seek some advice. We will construct a very good Science City here in Bhubaneswar,” Minister Patra said following his visit.
