In view of the prevailing heavy rainfall situation, the district administrations of Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur have cancelled the leave of all government employees to ensure effective disaster management and prompt response.
In Malkangiri, the leave of government employees has been cancelled till September 28, while in Koraput and Nabarangpur districts, the restrictions have come into effect from Thursday.
District Collectors have instructed all officials not to leave their headquarters and remain available for immediate duty. Directions have also been issued to Block Development Officers (BDOs) and Tahsildars to stay alert and closely monitor the situation.
The move comes as several areas in southern Odisha are witnessing incessant rainfall under the influence of low pressure in Bay of Bengal, raising concerns of flooding and disruption to normal life.
