Odisha CM announces Rs 4L ex-gratia after Ganjam student’s tragic death

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has expressed deep grief and extended condolences to the bereaved family.In connection with the tragic death of Mihir Pradhan, a Class X student from Khallikote in Odisha’s Ganjam district, 

Taking note of the unfortunate incident, the Chief Minister on Sunday announced an ex gratia assistance of Rs 4 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to support the family during this difficult time. He directed officials concerned to ensure that the financial assistance is provided to the deceased student’s next of kin at the earliest.

The untimely demise of the young student has sparked widespread sorrow in the region. Expressing sympathy, the Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences and prayed for strength for the grieving family to bear the irreparable loss.

"Upon learning about the tragic loss of life of Mihir Pradhan (Father – Santosh Pradhan) of Khallikote Tehsil in Ganjam district, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Majhi has expressed deep grief and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members. He has also announced an ex gratia assistance of Rs 4 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for the next of kin of the deceased," wrote CMO Odisha on X (earlier known as Twitter).

According to preliminary reports, Mihir suddenly fell unconscious inside the hostel premises early in the morning. Fellow students and hostel authorities immediately rushed to his aid and shifted him to the Khallikote Community Health Centre for emergency medical treatment. However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival.
