While BJP finished third in Nuapada in the 2024 General Election, the saffron party scripted a resounding victory in the recently-concluded bypoll.
What was the BJP’s game plan for the Nuapada by-election? What strategy did the party adopt, and how did the workers execute it on the ground? State BJP President Manmohan Samal gave a glimpse into the party’s strategy during OTV’s Khola Katha programme on Thursday.

"I don't believe that resources help you win elections. We are a cadre-based party. We fight elections by relying on our party workers. We register victory by winning the confidence of common people," said State BJP President Manmohan Samal.
"We were confident about a clear mandate in our favour from the mood of the people before the seven days of the election. We were taking feedback from our local and outside workers. They were talking about the number of votes likely to be fetched by BJP," he added.
Notably, BJP leader Jay Dholakia took oath as the MLA of Nuapada on Thursday, coinciding with his father’s birth anniversary. Speaker Surama Padhy administered the oath to the legislator.
