The husband of Odia Jatra actress Sonali Panda was arrested on Saturday after the actress lodged a complaint. The accused, identified as Shreekhetra Prasad Samanta Singhar, was detained by Krushnaprasad police after being traced to Bhubaneswar.

Police officials said Shreekhetra was picked up from Bhubaneswar and later placed under formal arrest after following due legal procedure. Confirming the development, the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Krushnaprasad police station stated that the arrest was made after his location was successfully traced.

Allegations Of Forced Marriage

According to the complaint filed by Sonali Panda, she has levelled serious allegations against her husband, including that he forcibly married her when she was a minor. She claimed that she was 17 years old at the time and alleged that the accused had coaxed her into the marriage by professing his love.

Search And Arrest Operation

Police said the allegations were submitted in writing, following which a search operation was launched to trace the accused. Investigators noted that Shreekhetra was not staying in his village after the complaint was filed, making it difficult to locate him.

The breakthrough came when police received specific information that he was present in Bhubaneswar. Acting on the input, a police team traced him and brought him to Krushnaprasad, where he was formally arrested.

Medical Examination And Legal Process

Police sources further informed that the accused is scheduled to undergo a medical examination on Sunday at 10 am. After the completion of the medical procedure, he will be produced before a court for further legal proceedings.
