Moquim to launch new party ‘Odisha Janata Congress’ in Bhubaneswar on April 8

In a significant political development, senior leader Mohammed Moquim is all set to launch his new political party at the Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar on April 8. As per sources, the party will be named 'Odisha Janata Congress'.

Moquim will formally announce the formation of the new party at a public programme where representatives from various political backgrounds are expected to participate.

Speaking on the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, Moquim also expressed strong views on the political developments in the state. He alleged that Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has weakened Congress in Odisha over the past 25 years.

According to him, any understanding or alliance with the BJD would amount to an 'unholy alliance' and would ultimately harm the Congress party. Moquim further claimed that several Congress MLAs are dissatisfied with such a possibility.

“We are not late in announcing the new party. The party’s flag and the foundational write-up have already been finalised. There is considerable interest among people across Odisha about the formation of this new political platform. Our primary objective is to serve the people of Odisha. The party will work strongly against corruption, strive for youth empowerment, and raise critical issues related to the mining sector. Earlier, we had planned to announce the party by the end of March. However, in view of the celebrations of Ram Navami, we have decided to tentatively launch the new party on April 8.The membership drive of the party will also begin on the same day,” said Moquim.
