Missing nursing student found dead near transformer in Odisha’s Sambalpur

A male nursing student was found dead under mysterious circumstances near an electric transformer in Sambalpur last night. According to initial information, the youth was studying at a private nursing institute in the district, police sources said on Thursday.

The deceased, identified as Lokesh Tudu from Mayurbhanj, had reportedly been missing from the nursing college for nearly the past two days.

After receiving information from some locals, Sadar police reached the spot and recovered the body. Preliminary suspicion suggests that the student’s hand might have been burned due to contact with an electric wire near the transformer.

However, how Lokesh died and why he was near the transformer remain unclear. Police have launched a detailed investigation to determine the cause of death. The youth may have taken an extreme decision to end his life and later died by suicide.

Police have seized the body and sent it to a nearby hospital for a post-mortem. The exact reason behind Lokesh’s death can be ascertained only after an autopsy report comes in.

No comments were received from the local police in this regard.

Worth mentioning, earlier in another incident, a 20-year-old B.Sc nursing male trainee, then identified as Romeo Ranjan Samal from Soro, was found dead on the late night of September 11, at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) hostel in Balasore.

Questions had been raised about why the nursing student, though enrolled in a private college, was staying in the DHH hostel for training. It is said that the student had allegedly died by suicide after hanging himself.

The deceased trainee’s father, who was employed at the same hospital, had reached the spot immediately. Despite the efforts of the doctors, he could not be saved.
