A sum of Rs 10 lakh was allegedly looted after miscreants broke open the dickey of a scooter parked in front of a house at Itua Korakara village under Napanga panchayat in Odisha's Cuttack district on Wednesday. The victim, identified as Rabindra Tripathy, lodged a complaint at Tangi police station regarding the incident.
According to reports, Tripathy had withdrawn Rs 10 lakh from the State Bank of India branch at Tangi to purchase land. When he came out moments later, he reportedly saw someone taking away the cash bag after breaking open the vehicle’s dickey. The complainant mentioned that four persons arrived on two motorcycles and carried out the loot.
Police Begin Investigation Using CCTV Footage
Following the complaint, police have started an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from the locality to trace the accused. Officers are also probing various angles, including how the culprits might have known about the cash withdrawal.
Victim Recounts The Incident
Tripathy stated that he had initially visited the bank in the morning, but officials asked him to return in the afternoon as the required amount was not available.
“I went back later, and after collecting the money, I rushed home. As I parked my scooter and went to open the main gate, I heard a clicking noise. That is when I noticed someone stealing the money bag from my scooter.”
