Barely days after the gang rape incident along the Daya riverbed at Lingipur, Bhubaneswar was once again rocked by another alleged case of sexual violence after a minor girl accused two persons of gang-raping her in a rented house under the Saheed Nagar police limits, raising concerns over the safety of women and children in the city.
According to the Police, the accused allegedly lured the minor to Bhubaneswar on the pretext of providing her a data entry operator job. One of the accused was reportedly known to the survivor. The incident allegedly took place on December 18 at a rented house in Saheed Nagar.
The victim reportedly managed to escape from the house and reached the Saheed Nagar Police Station, where she lodged a complaint. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case, arrested two accused persons, and later produced them before a local court.
A scientific team has been pressed into service to assist in the investigation, and evidence has been collected from the spot. Police officials said further investigation is underway to verify all aspects of the case and to ascertain if others were involved.

The incident comes close on the heels of another recent case reported from the Lingipur Daya riverbed area, adding to growing public concern over crimes against women and minors in Bhubaneswar.
Case Placed Under ‘Red Flag’ Category
The gang rape case has been tagged under the Red Flag category. The investigation will be carried out under the direct supervision of the Director General of the Crime Branch. The Crime Branch will assist the Commissionerate Police in the investigation.
