According to reports, Sridhar Nayak of Apanda village in Bant area of Bhadrak district had married Mamuni, daughter of Ram Chandra Mahalika of Bijaya Patana village under Karanpalli panchayat, in a love marriage. While the couple initially lived peacefully for some time, disagreements and frequent quarrels later arose between them over various issues.

Following escalating disputes, Mamuni returned to her parental home. Subsequently, a community-level meeting was held in the presence of village elders, where it was decided that the couple would live separately.
