Tension gripped the Jagannathpur Golara area under Brahmagiri police limits in Puri district on Wednesday following a violent attack by a finance company employee on one person and his nephew. The incident reportedly occurred when the duo was taking a child to the hospital on a scooter.
According to sources, the victims, identified as Ajiba Jena and his nephew Purna Jena, were stopped near Hatiya Chhak by a finance company employee. The employee allegedly confronted Ajiba over pending vehicle loan instalments, which soon escalated into a heated argument.

Sensing danger, Ajiba tried to leave the place and headed toward the hospital. However, the finance employee followed them and intercepted them again near the gate of the Kerandia Community Health Centre. A fresh altercation broke out, during which the finance employee attacked both men with a sharp weapon.
As a result, Ajiba Jena sustained grievous injuries, while his nephew Purna suffered a deep stab wound to his abdomen. Both were initially rushed to the Kerandia hospital and later shifted to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital for advanced treatment.
Police reached the scene shortly after the incident, seized both the scooter and the accused’s bike, and have begun an investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the accused finance employee fled the spot and is currently absconding.
Police efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the attacker.
