KISS student murder: School and Mass Education Minister promises thorough probe, warns of stringent action

In the wake of the KISS student murder case, Odisha’s Minister of School and Mass Education, Nityananda Gond, on Wednesday, stated that the investigation is ongoing and stringent action would be taken after the report is submitted.

“The matter has come to my knowledge. An FIR has been lodged, and an enquiry is underway. Let the enquiry proceed so that the truth can be revealed. Based on the report, the department is fully aware and will take stringent action if necessary,” he said.

Likewise, Senior lawyer Manas Chand alleged that the matter was deliberately suppressed. “The KISS authorities, senior officials, and even the founder could be held responsible if someone comes forward and levels charges. It is clear that the student was killed, yet the school authorities tried to cover up the incident,” he said.

On the other hand, Keonjhar district’s Patna MLA Akhil Nayak also demanded a high-level investigation into the case and questioned why such a ‘murder’ mindset is developing among students in an institute like KISS. 

“Educational institutions need to be more vigilant. Why did this murder happen? If a high-level investigation is conducted, all the facts will come to light,” he said. He further questioned, “Why is such a mindset developing among students?”

The MLA emphasised the need for preventive measures to ensure that such tragic incidents do not occur in the future.
