The spirit of unity and patriotism came alive in Kendrapara town as people from all walks of life joined hands to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on Monday.
The occasion, observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, witnessed a grand Ekta Padyatra (Unity March) led by BJP National VP and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda.
The march began from Tinimuhani and proceeded through Gulanagar, Garapur, and New Bus Stand, before concluding at the Kendrapara Autonomous College campus.

After the procession reached the college, a public meeting was organised within the campus. The program began with floral tributes to Sardar Patel, fondly remembered as the ‘Iron Man of India’.
Speakers on the occasion highlighted Patel’s instrumental role in integrating more than 560 princely states to form a united India after independence.
Addressing the gathering, MP Baijayant Panda emphasised the need to uphold Patel’s vision of unity, integrity, and national strength.
“On the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, we all should be immensely grateful to him for his contribution in uniting India, especially during the Independence battle. Our national song, Vande Mataram, also played a huge role in this during our Independence struggle. People who take credit for India’s Independence have forgotten its importance. But we still remember and will always remember Sardar Patel and our national song, Vande Mataram. So, it is my request to everyone to participate in this ‘Ekta Padyatra’ and keep our country united and unanimously sing our national song,” stated Baijayant Panda.
The event concluded with patriotic songs and a collective pledge to preserve the spirit of national integration and brotherhood in every sphere of life.
