Sources reported on Tuesday that Choudhury filed a joint anticipatory bail petition along with Soumesh Satapathy, after both were named in an FIR lodged by the singer’s mother, Shefali Suna, who has held them responsible for her son’s death.

According to sources, the petition was filed apprehending arrest following the registration of the case, in which a total of nine persons have been named as accused. Notably, the deceased singer’s mother had sought a criminal investigation into the circumstances leading to Humane Sagar’s death.

FIR Names Nine For Death

Earlier this month, Shefali Suna had lodged the FIR at Markat Nagar police station in Cuttack, naming Soumesh Satapathy, Arpita Choudhury, and seven others. In her complaint, she alleged that her son’s death was not natural and accused those named of being responsible for his deteriorating health and eventual demise.

The FIR was registered after a delay of several weeks, which Shefali later explained publicly, citing emotional distress and evolving circumstances following her son’s death.

Police Probe Reopened, Legal Action Intensifies

Following the complaint, the Commissionerate Police reopened the Humane Sagar death case and initiated a fresh probe. Investigators have begun examining financial transactions of all nine accused and have sought call detail records spanning multiple years as part of the investigation process, officials said earlier.

Cuttack Additional DCP earlier stated that all individuals named in the FIR would be summoned and thoroughly probed.

It is worth noting that among the accused, only Md Abid alias Bablu, owner of Sagar Sangam Live, has responded publicly so far, denying the allegations and stating that he would cooperate with the investigation.

As of the last reports, no comments could be received from Arpita Choudhury or Soumesh Satapathy.
