Three Killed in Ganjam
The first tragedy struck on the Digapahandi–Aska main road near the PWD bungalow under Patapur police limits. A heavy vehicle (Hyva truck) collided with a motorcycle, instantly killing three riders. The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed. Police have launched an inquiry and are trying to establish the cause of the collision.
Mother and Daughter Die in Keonjhar
In the second incident at Kolimati, near Champua village, tragedy hit local resident, Rahas Munda, who was riding his motorcycle with his wife and daughter. The family was returning from Ghatagaon when a Bolero vehicle (SUV), coming from the opposite direction, crashed head-on into their vehicle. While Rahas survived with injuries, his wife and daughter died on the spot. Police from Ghasipura station have registered a case and seized the Bolero involved.
Road Safety Concerns
Both accidents highlight the growing concerns over road safety in Odisha, particularly reckless driving on highways and poorly maintained stretches. Authorities have urged commuters to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to prevent further loss of lives.
