A fire broke out at Toshali Bhawan in Satyanagar, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on Thursday morning, reportedly due to a short circuit.
The blaze, which started in the record room, caused damage to official property, including documents and electronic equipment.
According to reports, the fire erupted at around 09:00 am. Fire Services teams reached the spot shortly after receiving information at around 10:00 am. Personnel from Kharavela Nagar police station were also deployed at the scene.
Blaze Brought Under Control
It took nearly two hours for Fire Department personnel to fully control the blaze. At the time of reporting, fire personnel were still present at the premises, inspecting the ceiling and surrounding areas to ensure that the fire had not spread and had been completely extinguished.
One of the Fire Department personnel said, “We received a report at around 10:00 am. One team reached the spot and got the blaze under control within 15 minutes. We suspect that the fire occurred due to a short circuit. Only one rack in the record room had caught fire; the rest of the items were okay.”
Everyone was barred from entering the premises as a precautionary measure.
Damage To Documents And Equipment
Sources said several portions of the record room sustained damage in the incident. It is suspected that important documents were gutted in the fire. Computers, laptops and other documents were reportedly completely destroyed.

The fire also caused glass panes of windows and doors to shatter.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
