Eight detained for scuffle and pointing firearm at police during land dispute in Cuttack
As many as eight persons were detained on charges of scuffling with police personnel and allegedly pointing firearm at them at Baranga area in Cuttack district on Sunday.
As per reports, the incident took place while some miscreants were attempting to forcibly take possession of a piece of land. They were trying to take possession of the land by threatening some persons and hurling abusive language at them.
Upon receiving information, Baranga police reached at the spot. The miscreants allegedly engaged with war of words with the police which eventually led to a scuffle. Subsequently, Baranga police station IIC Debendra Biswal arrived. The miscreants also allegedly misbehaved with him and pointed firearm.

Following the development, police managed to overpower them and they were brought to Baranga police station. The DCP has informed that all the eight miscreants will be arrested. Firearms and live bullets were seized from their possession. Fortunately, nobody has been injured in the incident.
Though police have not revealed about the identity of the miscreants yet, it has been learnt that some of them belong to Bidanasi area of Cuttack. They have criminal antecedents.
