Cuttack clash: Odisha CM reviews law-and-order situation, warns antisocial elements

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday conducted a review of the state’s law-and-order situation, observing that the situation in Cuttack city, which witnessed an unusual clash during Durga Puja, is largely under control.

He has directed senior police officials to maintain strict vigilance over troublemakers and antisocial elements.

The Chief Minister warned that certain groups are attempting to tarnish the image of Odisha with malicious intentions and emphasised the need for firm action against such activities. Police authorities have been instructed to closely monitor such individuals and prevent any escalation.

Even though the situation in Cuttack is relatively normal, the CM stressed that complacency must be avoided. Deployment of forces and regular patrolling in all sensitive areas must continue to ensure peace and security.

Meanwhile, the Odisha government lifted the internet ban imposed on Cuttack, while the curfew has also been lifted.

However, in an effort to restore communal harmony, senior police officers continue to keep a vigil and have been instructed to maintain dialogue with leaders of various groups. The Chief Minister also advised that offenders must face the full force of the law and be given exemplary punishment to serve as a deterrent.

This directive highlights the state government’s commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring public safety across Odisha.
