Chain collision on NH in Odisha leaves three critically injured

A series of road accidents occurred on National Highway-18 near Darkoli square in Mayurbhanj district, triggering panic in the area on Wednesday.

According to reports, the incident began when a pickup van rammed into a car travelling on the highway. Moments later, a speeding truck crashed into the pickup van, resulting in a chain collision involving all three vehicles.

The impact of the accident left three occupants of the pickup van seriously injured. They were immediately rescued by locals and rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, where their condition is reported to be critical.

Following the incident, the police reached the spot and seized both the truck and the pickup van involved in the crash. However, the driver of the car allegedly fled the scene with the vehicle and is currently absconding.

Traffic on the busy stretch of NH-18 was briefly disrupted due to the accident, but normal movement was restored after the damaged vehicles were cleared from the road. 

An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
