An autorickshaw driver sustained injuries after a car hit his vehicle at Jayadev Vihar Square in Odisha's Bhubaneswar on Saturday night.
The incident sparked tension in the area, with locals staging a road blockade demanding strict action against those involved.
Incident at Busy City Junction
According to reports, the car mounted the autorickshaw at the busy Jayadev Vihar Square, one of the city's prominent junctions. The impact left the autorickshaw driver injured, prompting immediate concern among bystanders.
Notably, a police sticker was affixed to the car involved in the incident, drawing attention from onlookers following the mishap.
The injured driver was immediately attended to at the scene. He was later shifted by the police to Capital Hospital for treatment.
Occupants Allegedly Intoxicated
Sources alleged that the two youths inside the car were heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident. They are reportedly law students of a reputed university. Liquor bottles were seen inside the vehicle, further fuelling allegations of drunk driving.
However, at the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued regarding any medical examination conducted on the occupants.
Public Protest and Police Action
The incident led to unrest at the spot, with members of the public demanding stringent action against the duo. Agitated locals staged a road blockade, disrupting vehicular movement at the busy junction for some time.

Police personnel reached the scene and held discussions with the protesters to pacify the situation. The tension was subsequently brought under control, and normal traffic movement resumed shortly thereafter.
