A massive fire broke out at a sack manufacturing factory in the Bardol area of Bargarh district in Odisha on Monday, causing panic among local residents and engulfing the entire vicinity in thick plumes of smoke. The sudden blaze created a tense situation as flames rapidly spread across the factory premises.
According to sources, the fire intensified quickly due to the presence of highly inflammable raw materials stored inside the factory. Firefighters faced an uphill task in controlling the blaze, as strong flames and dense smoke hampered firefighting operations. The intensity of the fire was such that it could be seen from a considerable distance, triggering fear among people living in nearby areas.
Upon receiving information, the fire brigade rushed to the spot and at least five fire tenders were pressed into service to combat the inferno. Fire personnel worked relentlessly to bring the situation under control and prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent structures and residential areas. The entire locality remained smoke-laden throughout the firefighting operation, causing inconvenience to residents and commuters.

Fortunately, the employees present at the factory managed to escape in time, narrowly avoiding any loss of life. No casualties have been reported so far, though the extent of damage to property is believed to be substantial.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Authorities of the sack manufacturing factory stated that a detailed investigation will be initiated to determine the origin of the blaze. Further details are awaited as firefighting and cooling operations continue at the site.
