Bhubaneswar youth steals high-end bike to impress girlfriend, lands in jail

There’s a popular saying — ‘Everything is fair in love and war’. And while love does inspire people to take bold steps, a young man in Bhubaneswar took that adage a bit too literally, turning what he believed was a romantic plan into a full-fledged criminal act.

According to reports, the youth was captured on CCTV cameras stealing a high-end motorcycle from the Maitri Vihar area. His intention, police said, was neither financial gain nor thrill-seeking. Instead, he wanted to impress his girlfriend by taking her on a stylish ride through the capital city.

After managing to steal the motorcycle, the young man picked up his girlfriend and rode through several pockets of Bhubaneswar, relishing the attention the expensive bike drew from onlookers. The couple eventually halted at IG Park, where they spent some time together, seemingly unaware that their movements were being closely tracked. Using CCTV surveillance and local intelligence, police had already pieced together the route taken by the stolen vehicle.

The romantic escapade came to a dramatic end when police reached IG Park and apprehended the youth on the spot. The stolen motorcycle was immediately seized. Officials confirmed that the young man has been arrested and that further investigation is underway to determine whether others were involved or if the accused has a prior criminal history.

What began as an attempt to impress a partner ultimately turned into a cautionary tale, a reminder that love may inspire daring acts, but the law remains uncompromising.
