Passengers travelling on the Konark Express (11020) will face a change in schedule on Saturday (September 27), with the train set to depart at 5:00 pm instead of its usual 2:40 pm from Bhubaneswar.
East Coast Railway attributed the delay to rake maintenance and advised passengers to plan accordingly. The rescheduling coincided with a day of major railway announcements and high-profile visits in Odisha.
PM Modi’s Visit And New Projects
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Odisha today to inaugurate development projects valued at more than Rs 50,000 crore.
His itinerary includes addressing a mega youth gathering in Jharsuguda and flagging off the Amrit Bharat Express between Berhampur in Odisha and Udhna in Gujarat’s Surat district via video conferencing. He is also expected to dedicate railway doubling projects worth Rs 1,400 crore in southern Odisha.
Amrit Bharat Express launch from Berhampur
The Amrit Bharat Express, designated Train No. 09022, is scheduled to commence its maiden run on September 27 at 12:00 hrs from Berhampur.
Covering 1,708 kilometres in around 33 hours, it will connect Odisha with Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. The service will benefit districts including Ganjam, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Balangir, and Nuapada, and is expected to improve mobility for workers and industries across five states.
The train will halt at key junctions such as Vizianagaram, Rayagada, Titlagarh, Raipur, Nagpur, Bhusaval, and Nandurbar, with additional stoppages at over 20 intermediate stations.

Built with modern LHB coaches, the 22-coach train includes 11 General Second Class sitting coaches, eight Sleeper Class coaches, two luggage vans, and a pantry car. Officials noted its energy-efficient design, improved seating, and passenger-friendly amenities aimed at making long-distance journeys more affordable.
