Bhubaneswar witnessed a tense situation on Janpath on Friday after an 'Ama Bus' allegedly rammed into a motorcycle, triggering public outrage and vandalism of the buses.

Following the incident, local police, including DCP, reportedly reached the spot and dispersed the agitated crowd to pacify the situation. The police were forced to resort to mild lahi charge as things went out of control.

As per reports, the ‘Ama Bus’ service has been involved in a series of accidents in recent times, leading to growing resentment among residents of Bhubaneswar. After today’s accident, some irate locals vandalised some Ama Buses, forcing the vehicle staff to flee the area.

"After an Ama Bus rammed into a motorcycle, some irate people vandalised the vehicle. Following this, a few others stopped additional Ama Buses and damaged those vehicles as well. Even young boys from a nearby slum were involved in the vandalism, throwing stones at the buses. Members of the public did not have the courage to intervene and stop them. Those involved in the incident should be identified and arrested," said an eyewitness.

Meanwhile, police officials stated that stern action would be taken against the miscreants involved in antisocial activities, including the damage of public property.
