In a major development in the murder case of senior advocate Pitabas Panda, Berhampur police have taken three individuals into custody for questioning. Among them is a corporator, although authorities have not confirmed the person’s identity or any direct involvement in the crime, sources said.
Senior police officials are reviewing CCTV footage from various locations across the city to trace movements linked to the case. Over the past two days, three police teams conducted raids in Khallikote, Kabisuryanagar, Polasara, and Patpur police station areas.
Preliminary investigations have reportedly yielded significant leads. According to sources, one individual was brought in from the Berhampur outskirts, another from Khallikote, while a notorious criminal is also under police questioning. Authorities are conducting a detailed investigation to determine any links between the suspects and the murder.
Today marks the seventh day since the crime, and the police officials are probing the case from all possible angles.
A few days ago, the Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M had informed that around 60-70 people have already been questioned in connection with the case.
Despite ongoing efforts, the main accused has not yet been arrested, keeping the investigation in sharp focus.

Meanwhile, the BJP has announced to hold a condolence meeting today to pay homage to the late advocate. All eyes remain on the police as the public awaits the arrest of the key accused in the murder case.
