2 youths found dead near NH-16 in Odisha’s Cuttack, murder suspected

Two young men were found dead inside a motor garage near Tangi–Nirgundi railway station along the national highway (NH-16) under Tangi police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Wednesday, triggering suspicion of a possible murder.

The two bodies were recovered from the garage under circumstances that remain unclear, prompting immediate police action.

According to official sources, the deceased have been identified as Md Soheb of Teruan village and Prashant Kumar Jena from the Choudwar Jatra Padia area, both under Choudwar police limits. Visible injury marks were found on their bodies, raising strong suspicion that the two may have been killed rather than dying of natural causes.

Upon receiving information, personnel from Tangi Police Station, along with the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), reached the spot and initiated an investigation.

Police recovered the bodies and sent them to hospital for a post-mortem.

While the exact cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed, police are examining all possible angles, including homicide. Further details are expected after the post-mortem reports come in and forensic analysis is completed.

The youths were friends. Why they had come to the garage last night has raised questions. It is also not clear whether only the two were present at the spot or if someone else is behind their suspicious death as well.

Meanwhile, Tangi police have intensified the investigation from various angles, including questioning the garage owner and workers. However, Cuttack Rural SP Vinit Agrawal has informed that the cause of death will be clarified after a detailed probe.

“A preliminary investigation suggests that it is a case of murder. A detailed probe into the two deaths is underway. We have sought the services of a scientific team. Persons who were likely involved will be interrogated,” SP Agrawal said to mediapersons.

“We are collecting evidence from the crime spot,” the senior cop added.
