Kalahandi: The frontline health workers continue to get infected with COVID-19 in Odisha. This time, two lady doctors of a community health centre (CHC) in Narla area of Kalahandi district have tested positive for COVID-19, informed CDMO on Saturday.
Both the doctors had reportedly come in direct contact with a returnee from Telangana during the latter’s visit to the CHC.
Kalahandi Collector Parag Harshad Gavali informed that the returnee had visited the CHC by breaking home quarantine protocol.
“The returnee had completed 7-day institutional quarantine and was asked to undergo a mandatory 7-day home quarantine. Instead of informing local ASHA or other officials, the concerned person visited the CHC,” said Gavali.
District administration officials informed that the CHC has been sanitised and temporarily shutdown as a precautionary measure.
Earlier, a doctor and a nurse of Nayagarh district headquarters hospital were found positive for coronavirus. The duo was shifted to SUM COVID hospital in Bhubaneswar after their swab samples tested positive for the virus earlier this week.
This is not the first time that the frontline warriors in the State infected with the virus. Earlier, two doctors of Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) who were on COVID duty were tested positive for coronavirus on June 7.
Apart from doctors, six Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA), Anganwadi workers, sanitary staff and volunteers, who were engaged in two temporary medical camps in Kendrapara district, tested positive for COVID-19 on May 31.
