Bhubaneswar/Rayagada/Malkangiri: Flood-like situation prevailed in Rayagada, Malkangiri, Kalahandi and Boudh districts today following incessant rains for past 24 hours. Several villages have been cut off as flood water washed away roads at several places affecting road communication. Further, reports of flooding and rescue operations from various parts of the state are trickling in.
A landslide in Raghubari ghat in Rayagada added to the woes of more than 5,000 residents of 40 villages. Following incessant rains, roads connecting Raghubari to Patarapada, Haripur and Dimiriguda were also washed away.
In Boudh, Tel river is reportedly flowing above danger mark threatening of impending flood. Besides, road communication on State Highway-41 connecting Kantamala-Ghantapada has been affected as the Adgudi bridge is under water. Similarly, Malikuda and Chichenda bridges in the district are also submerged marooning at least 40 villages including Ghantapada, Malikuda and Manikpura.
However, incessant rain continues to batter Malkangiri leading to swelling rivers. While the district headquarters has been cut off from the rest of the State, Pangama, MV-37, Karakonda and Kanyashram are in deluge. Landslide at the Bonda ghat snapped road communication to Mudulipada and Andrahala panchayats.

In Kalahandi, Hati, Tel and Sardul rivers are in spate causing flood water to gush into low lying areas. Rupra road has been submerged due to which communication to and from Kalahandi-Rayagada and Narla has been affected.
Two persons stuck at the Kesinga irrigation project surrounded by flood water were rescued by fire personnel. Also 24 villagers stuck in different villages at Narla and Karlamunda blocks were rescued.
In a tragic incident, four persons of a family including a three-year-old were injured after the wall of their house collapsed at Bhijiput village in Banki of Cuttack district today. In another incident, a youth identified as Ram Chandra Bauri was swept by sudden gush of water near Gudari in Rayagada district.
