Bhubaneswar: All Odisha Private Schools Association (AOPSA) has expressed inability to waive off the school fees completely in response to the Odisha government’s appeal due to the unprecedented Covid-19 situation.
In a press conference, AOPSA president Satyanarayan Mishra said that it would not be possible for them to waive off the school fees completely.
“We are paying salaries to our teachers. We are also paying house rents. Online classes are going on and the schools have to bear the electric bill. From where will we cover the cost?” Mishra asked.
“If the government will pay this amount, we could consider waiving off a partial amount from the transportation and boarding fees,” he suggested.
Though AOPSA members agreed to consider remitting 25 percent fees of a few students, they warned to hit the streets if the government forces them to waive off the fees completely.
“The State government can’t force anything upon us; if it happens, it will lead to a stir up across the State,” Mishra added.
