Bhubaneswar: Clearing the air on the reopening of schools and colleges, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced that they will remain closed till Puja holidays in view of the COVID-19 situation in the state.
CM Naveen made the announcement while he was reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the state. While making the announcement, the CM cited that the decision has been taken to allay fears and apprehension in the minds of students and their guardians about the prevailing situation.
Describing complacence as an enemy during the pandemic, he advised during the video conference to adopt maximum precaution against Covid. He further expressed satisfaction over ramping up of testing and decline of positivity as well as fatality rate. He also directed District Covid Observers to strictly adhere to area-specific strategies in Hotspot districts to fight the pandemic.
Emphasizing on the revival of rural economy, Patnaik approved a special assistance package of Rs. 200 Crore for the poor and extremely poor families in the State affected by Covid pandemic.
Patnaik further expressed pleasure that Odisha has earned a rank among top 5 States in NITI Ayog's export preparedness and competitiveness report. He said that our focus on basics and continued drive to excel have led to such success. He further said that Odisha has excelled in many parameters like export promotions policy, infrastructure and trade support.
