Bhubaneswar: As many as 527 persons tested positive for Covid-19 including 338 from quarantine centres and 189 from local contacts in the last 24 hours in Odisha, informed the State I&PR Department on Wednesday. This is the second consecutive day that the State has hit Covid-19 cases over 500-mark.
Data shared by the State Health department shows an upward trend in the intensity of local transmission of Covid-19. After registering a sharp spike in the number of local infections from 30 to 136 on July 3, the cases touched 150-mark on July 5 and neared 170 on Tuesday.
The total positive tally in Odisha rose to 10, 624 which includes 3860 active cases, 6703 recoveries. With six more death cases, the total death toll in the State has surged to 48.
While the highest 215 coronavirus cases have been reported from Ganjam district, Sundargarh comes next with 78 cases, Khurda (50), Balasore (26), Jajpur (25), Bolangir (21), Nayagarh (18), Cuttack (17), Puri (16), Mayurbhanj (10), Keonjhar (7), Koraput (6) and Sonepur 5 cases.
Similarly, four cases each were detected from Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda and Nuapada districts. Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, and Malkangiri reported three cases each, Bhadrak two cases and Angul, Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, and Sambalpur reported one each case.
Meanwhile, a total of 5,918 RT-PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Odisha taking the cumulative tests to 308698.
