Bhubaneswar: As many as 160 children, who had reportedly gone missing from different parts of the State, has been rescued by Odisha Police in a special drive.
Senior officials said that all the children including 138 girls and 22 boys have been traced in the first four days of the special drive which was launched on February 28. The drive will continue till March 8, 2021.
It is the second of its kind drive to be launched by the Odisha Police this year.
During the drive, Bhadrak district has rescued maximum number of 26 children followed by Ganjam and Balasore districts which rescued 13 and 12 children respectively.
“These children have been rescued in reference to specific cases registered in the Police Stations and have been restored to their respective parents/ guardians,” said an official release.
Earlier, the Odisha Crime Branch had rescued 894 children during an eight-day long special drive organised to trace missing children launched in the month of January this year.
Out of the 894 rescued children, 800 were girls and the remaining 94 were boys.
The rescue drive was launched basing on the 834 missing complaints, which were lodged at various police stations across the State. Kendrapara district police rescued 127 children while Mayurbhanj and Balasore traced 111 and 88 children, respectively in the first leg of the special drive.
