Bhubaneswar: No major damage or loss of life has been reported on account of the recent Odisha flood-like situation in several districts of Odisha which has been triggered by heavy rainfall, informed Chief Secretary, Asit Tripathy on Monday.
The Chief Secretary reviewed the situation by holding discussions with Collectors of 10 districts including Malkangiri, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Kendrapara, Sonepur, Bargarh, Boudh and Bhadrak through video-conferencing.
“Malkangiri received highest of 463.2 mm of rainfall in the past three days. Road communication in several places was disrupted in the district but the overall situation is now normal as there has been no rainfall since yesterday,” said Tripathy.
Tripathy further informed that district Collectors have been asked to submit house and crop damage reports to the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) at the earliest.
Clarifying on the death of one person in Bolangir, the Chief Secretary stated that the death was not due to flood but rather due to wall collapse. The overall flood-like situation is stable and necessary steps are being taken by the officials, he added.
As another low pressure is on the cards, senior Odisha government officials informed that the developments are being closely monitored.
