Odisha Crime Branch STF Busts Illegal Zarda Manufacturing Unit In Jajpur

Jajpur: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch busted a fake chewing tobacco (zarda) manufacturing unit in Jajpur district on Friday and seized a huge cache of tobacco products and equipment and machines used in the manufacture.

Acting on a tip-off, the STF conducted a raid on the illegal tobacco manufacturing unit in the wee hours today. As per sources, packets of fake tobacco, the packaging materials along with all the equipment used in the preparation of the zarda has been seized from the unit.

While there is no information yet on the number of people arrested, the officials have reportedly begun an investigation to find out details of the racket involved in it.

Two days back, the STF had seized more than 2.5 quintals of fake/duplicate zarda and other tobacco products following a raid at fake tobacco manufacturing units on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar in Jatani and Balipatna areas. Two accused were arrested based on cases registered at Jatni and Balipatna PS in this regard.
