Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s novel coronavirus tally surged to 62294 on Monday with 2244 new cases, while ten more fatalities pushed the death toll to 353.
While four deaths were reported from Khurda district, Bargarh, Cuttack, Ganjam, Puri, Rayagada and Sundergarh reported one death each, informed State Health and Family Welfare Department.
With the new cases, Odisha now has 19612 active cases, while 42276 patients have so far recovered from the disease, as per the data shared by the I&PR Department.
Of the fresh cases reported from 29 districts, 1390 cases were detected from several quarantine centres while 854 are local contact cases.
Khurda reported the maximum of 311 new cases followed by 243 in Ganjam, 194 in Cuttack, 160 in Rayagada, 142 in Balasore, 136 in Sundergarh, 121 in Kandhamal and 104 in Bhadrak.

The Health and Family Welfare Department also shared the details of ten Covid-19 positive patients who succumbed while under treatment in hospitals.
- A 68-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes, Hypertension.
- A 65-year old-male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes.
- A 50-year old female of Khordha district who was also suffering from Diabetes & hypertension.
- A 70-year old male of Khordha district.
- A 42-year-old male of Bargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes, Hypertension & Chronic Kidney Disease.
- A 60-year-old male of Cuttack district.
- A 85-year-old male of Ganjam district who was also suffering from Uncontrolled Diabetes, Hypertension, Coronary Artery Disease.
- A 60-year-old female of Puri district who was also suffering from Diabetes & hypertension & old Cerebro Vascular Accident.
- A 39-year-old male of Rayagada district.
- A 52-year -old male of Sundergarh district who was also suffering from Uncontrolled Diabetes, hypertension & Chronic Kidney Disease.
Meanwhile, additional chief secretary of Health Department Pradipta Mohapatra informed that 50,411 Covid-19 tests including 5,639 RT-PCR, 44,640 antigen and 142 truenat tests were conducted in the State in the last 24 hours.
Besides, Mohapatra stated that while the number of tests have increased, the amount of infections have considerably decreased in comparison to yesterday’s positive data.
