Bhubaneswar: The coronavirus curve shows no sign of declining trend in Odisha as nine more people succumbed to the virus and 1337 persons were tested positive in the last 24 hours, informed the State I&PR Department on Wednesday.
With this, the Covid-19 death toll in the State jumped to 225 while the total number of positive cases rose to 39018, of which 14267 are active cases. However, 24482 patients have recovered from the disease so far.
Of the new cases reported from 28 districts of the State, 815 were detected from quarantine centres while 522 are local contact cases.
The maximum 201 cases were reported from Ganjam district followed by Khurda (196), Cuttack (168), Sundergarh (83) and Keonjhar (80), added I&PR department.
List of new cases from the other districts are mentioned below:
The health and family welfare department also shared the details of nine Covid positive patients who succumbed while under treatment in hospitals.
- A 42-year-old Male of Ganjam district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Acute Kidney Injury.
- A 55-year-old male of Sundergarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes.
- A 52-year-old female of Ganjam district.
- A 59-year-old male of Ganjam district.
- A 27-year-old male of Gajapati district.
- A 53-year-old male of Ganjam district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
- A 21-year-old male of Keonjhar district who was also suffering from Diabetes (Type-I).
- A 60-year-old female of Khordha district.
- A 63-year-old male of Ganjam district who was also suffering from Uncontrolled Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease.
Similarly, the department also shared the details of two Covid-19 positive patients who died due to other causes:
A total of 14915 samples were tested in the last 24 hours in Odisha taking the cumulative number of tests to 585505.
