Kendrapara: Two bike-borne miscreants looted gold ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh from a jewellery shop at Mahaveer market under Rajnagar police limits in the district today.
According to reports, the owner of Srimati Jewellers was offering prayers immediately after opening his store this morning when two persons came on pretext of buying jewelleries and looted 400 grams of gold ornaments worth around Rs 20 lakh from his shop.
On being informed Police reached the spot and identified the miscreants by examining the CCTV footages installed inside the shop.
Police sources said, all important routes leading to and from the area have been sealed and efforts are on to trace the two looters.
Asked, owner of the shop informed, "I was lighting incense sticks during prayers when two people came to my shop. While one waited outside the store, the other one entered and asked to buy ornaments. I showed them some items and continued with my prayers. Taking advantage of the opportunity, they robbed the gold ornaments and fled the spot."
