Bhubaneswar: With the winter setting in gradually, mercury plummeted to less than 15 degree Celsius in as many as 15 places in the State on Tuesday.
Cold wave condition in Odisha is likely to intensify as the night and day temperatures are expected to fall by a few degrees, especially in the interior areas, in the coming days, sources said.
As per the Regional Meteorological Centre data, Phulbani was the coldest at 9.5 degree Celsius on Tuesday. Similarly, Daringbadi and Sundergarh recorded night temperature of 11 degrees, followed by Bhawanipatna 11.5 degrees, Koraput 11.6 degrees, Jharsuguda 12.6 degrees, Malkangiri 13 degrees, Angul 13.6, Keonjhar 13.6 degrees, Talcher 14, Baripada 14 degrees, Bolangir 14.3 degrees, Sambalpur 14.7, Nayagarh and Boudh 15 degree Celsius.
The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded 15.8 and 17.6 degrees, respectively.

Latest weather reports suggest that dry weather is likely to prevail over all districts of Odisha during the next five days. However, shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur at one or two places in the early morning over the districts of Kalahandi, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Koraput and Nabarangpur today.
Similar foggy conditions will be seen at some places over Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Angul, Sonepur, Boudh, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh between December 9 and 10.
Meanwhile, the office of the Special Relief Commission has issued an advisory in view of the dense fog alert by IMD. District officials have been asked to closely monitor the situation and regulate movement of vehicles during dense fog. The SRC has asked police and transport department officials to take necessary measures for controlled plying of vehicles on highways during dense fog to prevent road accidents.
