Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday once again appealed people to remain indoors and follow the lockdown norms to contain the spread of coronavirus.
In an address to the people of the State, he said, "Easing of lockdown does not mean that COVID-19 threat is past us... Don't make that mistake. As I had told earlier, the month of June will be the most crucial in our fight against the virus."
Patnaik informed that next 25 days are crucial as it will take another 15 to 20 days for the effect of the influx of migrants to subside. As monsoon is expected to reach Odisha by June 10 and the season is generally associated with cold, cough and fever, we should stay at home as far as possible and follow the prescribed government guidelines, said Patnaik.
"Including the 2-day (weekend) shutdown on Saturdays and Sundays and daily 10-hour night curfew from 7PM to 5AM, we have to stay home for 17 days in June and you can understand how far we will be able to contain the spread of #COVID-19," Patnaik added.
Patnaik further informed that the COVID-19 situation in India is assuming disconcerting proportions as the country is witnessing a peak as the daily positive cases has now reached 10,000 from 3,000 per day.
Patnaik while closing his address urged the people to follow 5 simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 including staying at home as far as possible, wearing masks, follow social distancing norms, frequent hand washing and not allowing people of 65-years-old with critical ailments, pregnant women and children less than 10 years old to go out of homes.
