Berhampur: The sea beach in Gopalpur and Sunapur of Ganjam district will wear a deserted look from Saturday as the local administration has imposed restrictions on public gathering in the beaches for a period of three days till November 30.
Reportedly, the decision of the administration comes in the wake of an apprehension of a huge gathering on the occasion of Kartika Purnima on Monday (November 30) and the pre-festivities. Moreover, the administration is likely to undertake developmental works and cleaning activities in the said beaches during the period.
"Gopalpur and Sunapur Beach will be closed for some development work and cleaning activities and to also avoid huge public congregations from November 28 to November 30. Please cooperate and stay at home, be safe," the administration has urged the public.
It is that time of the year when sea beaches, ponds, riverbanks across Odisha witness a huge gathering wherein thousands of devotees throng these water bodies to float miniature boats and toy vessels in remembrance of the State maritime history.
In view of the present Covid-19 pandemic situation, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued an order imposing restrictions on the sailing of miniature boats in Bindusagar and other river ghats in the State capital city on the occasion of Kartika Purnima. The city administration has also imposed restriction on visiting of temples on the full-moon day of the holy month of Kartika which is considered as the holiest occasion in the Odia calendar.
It is pertinent to mention here that the State government has already imposed restrictions on the ‘Boita Bandana Utsav’ and mass bathing at river ghats and other water bodies.
