As per an order released by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on Wednesday, the scheduled weekend shutdown in the districts of Ganjam, Khordha, Gajapati and Cuttack along with the Rourkela Municipal Corporation has been relaxed till 11 AM on 15 August (Saturday).
“Weekend Shutdown order issued by this department on 31 July 2020 is hereby relaxed on 15 August 2020 to allow the citizens to unfurl the National Flag on their premises,” the order read.
Highlighting risks to public health due to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic, the SRC further ordered that not more than 10 people will be allowed to congregate at any given place.
“All safety protocols such as social distancing, wearing masks, proper sanitisation should be duly maintained while celebrating the Independence Day,” the SRC said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Sambalpur district administration has already deferred the scheduled shutdown in the district for Independence Day and Nuakhai festival. The shutdown in Sambalpur district now will be observed on 16th and 17th August in place of 15th, 22nd and 23 August.
