Rourkela: In a bid to identify asymptomatic COVID-19 patients, Sundargarh district administration will launch triple antigen test in the city within a weak.
Informing this to media, north division revenue commissioner Niranjan Sahu said, “We are planning to set up testing centres at different localities and private hospitals. We will conduct triple antigen tests which will help us to get COVID-19 report in 20 minutes.”
“There were some restrictions in the tests we were conducting earlier. Now we aim at testing more people. We are mainly focusing on asymptomatic cases,” Sahu informed.
Meanwhile, Sundargarh Sub Divisional Medical Officer (SDMO) has asked to shut Bonai sub-divisional hospital after a staff tested positive for novel coronavirus.
According to sources, the authorities have closed the Outpatient Department (OPD) and operation theatre at the hospital. However, patients requiring emergency care would be allowed for treatment at the hospital.
Earlier in July, the hospital’s OPD was closed after a staff tested positive for coronavirus.
Notably, Sundargarh has been reporting a steep rise in positive cases since last week. As of August 10, the district has reported 2,362 COVID-19 cases of which 881 are active cases. While 1,459 recovered from the disease, the virus has claimed 18 lives in the district.
