Cuttack: A special strategy is being formulated for increasing COVID-19 testing capacity in the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) area.
After a high-level review meeting which was attended by COVID-19 observer Saurabh Garg today, CMC Commissioner, Ananya Das informed that around 700 tests are being conducted daily and it will be increased in coming days.
Garg informed that several key issues including how to increase testing capacity and address the requirement of doctors and lab technicians were discussed during the review meeting.
“Already the State government has deployed 20 post graduate doctors for Cuttack district and soon testing will be increased,” said Garg.
Garg further informed that CMC Commissioner and DCP Cuttack will soon hold talks with traders’ association to ensure strict compliance of COVID-19 norms as shops have been allowed to open during Unlock 3.
Cuttack Collector, Bhabani Shankar Chayani informed that as certain activities will be allowed in Unlock 3, a detailed review of the strategy for COVID-19 management was discussed today.
“There will be restrictions and people who will come to the district will have to inform local authorities. Similarly, emphasis is being laid on treatment at Covid Care Centres, COVID hospitals by SCB doctors,” said Chayani.
Ananya Das informed that a special strategy is in place for monitoring the asymptomatic patients who are in home isolation, their shifting to COVID Care Centres and capacity augmentation of COVID hospitals.
“We have requested SCB officials to create a pool of doctors including gynaecologists and nephrologists to provide required treatment to COVID-19 positive patients,” said Das.
Das further informed that during the last 16-day lockdown in CMC area, massive testing was conducted through mobile sampling units and by organising camps in containment zones.
“Around 14 rounds of surveillance were carried out in Khatbin Sahi which was earlier declared a containment zone. Similarly, 56 % of the population in Rausapatna containment zone have been tested,” Das added.
